The Players Theatre will be hosting auditions for the Broadway favorite “Annie” on October 6, 2012. Director Bob Trisolini will be casting children for the role of Annie and her orphan cast of up to 12 girls, ages 6 to 16. The casting of understudy’s and swings will also be explored. Additionally there are excellent roles for adults ages 16 and up.
Beginning on September 4, 2012 anyone interested in auditioning must contact the box office at (941) 365-2494 to schedule an audition time. Auditions for children will begin at 2:00pm and adults will begin at 6:00pm.
Actors and actresses, of all levels of experience, are welcome to audition. It is important that all interested prospects understand that rehearsals for the show will begin in mid-October and that the show will run from December 4 – 23, 2012.
“Our producing the musical “Annie” is not only to entertain our audiences, it is to give opportunities to all the multi-talented kids in the area,” said Jeffery Kin, Artistic Director. “We are committed to getting young theatre students out of the classroom and onto our stage as often as possible!”
All auditions will be closed, that means that no one other than The Players staff and members of the “Annie” creative team will be allowed in the theatre during the entire audition process.
All actors/actresses should bring their own sheet music and be dressed appropriately to dance. Children who are auditioning for the role of Annie should come prepared to sing the final
22 bars of “Tomorrow”, while all other children should come prepared to sing the first 20 bars of
“A Hard Knock Life”. Adults are expected to have a short monologue and one minute song prepared.
A 5-week audition workshop for children ages 6-16 will be held on Wednesdays, beginning on September 5, 2012. The workshop will cost $65 and is limited to 20 students. It will focus
on improving auditioning skills and learning dance routines quickly. Call the studio at (941) 365-2494 to register.
If you have a talented dog for the role ofSandy, those auditions will be held privately. Please contact Jeffery Kin directly at 941-365-2494.
