THE SPITFIRE GRILL

A feisty parolee finds her way to a small town in Wisconsin and starts working at The Spitfire Grill. The diner is for sale but there are no takers, so the owner and staff decide to raffle it off with an essay competition. Soon, mail is arriving and things are definitely cookin’ at the Grill.

The Spitfire Grill

Based on the wonderful movie by the same title. The story follows a feisty parolee (Percy) who finds herself in a small town in rural Wisconsin. Once there, she finds herself working at The Spitfire Grill and is thrust into the small mindedness of rural life. When the owner divulges the grill is for sale, Percy thinks up a great way to sell it…get an entry fee of $100 and the best essay wins The Grill. The music is based on rural folk music, and has an incredible score that has its roots in country and bluegrass music.
Music and Book by James Valcq, Lyrics and book by Fred Alley
