An Update from The Players Centre

Dear Patrons, Volunteers, Donors and Friends,

The Players Centre for Performing Arts is deeply saddened by the current condition of the world and the virus affecting so many across the globe. In order to prevent the spread of this virus and to ensure the safety of our patrons, volunteers and staff, The Players has cancelled events through April 18. Further adjustments are forthcoming.

The current guidelines by the CDC tell us to limit gatherings to no more than 10 individuals. This is difficult for us in the live performance industry. Sitting in a dark theatre surrounded by others is part of the thrill of attending a show.

The Players Centre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that puts on plays and musicals by your community for your community. For 90 years we’ve given locals the chance to live out their dreams on stage. Our classes have educated students in the performing arts for almost 25 years. Many volunteers put in hours of work on shows that were cut short or were never performed. We are wholeheartedly thankful to these individuals and we hope to offer them the chance to show the world their work as soon as we can.

Along with the emotional stress, The Players will lose approximately $550,000 due to the cancellation of numerous shows. This is a huge blow and without an idea of what to expect in the future, we aren’t sure what the total will be.

If you have tickets to any of our cancelled/postponed events, we hope that you will consider donating those tickets back to the theatre. The Players hopes to continue giving this community the opportunity to entertain, educate and engage with the arts in the future and we hope you’ll help us continue with that mission in the wake of these events.

We can also turn your tickets into vouchers (called flex passes) to be used later to any of our future shows. This option will impact our income for next year as well.

The safety and health of our patrons, volunteers and staff is our top priority and we hope the community bands together during this time. Our theater is YOUR theater, and the staff and board of trustees will work tirelessly to reopen, re-imagine and remount these pieces that are postponed. We pray this temporary inconvenience brings out the best in all of us, and we look forward to greeting you in our lobby in the near future.

With love and hope,

Jeffery Kin and the staff of The Players Centre
