The season opener, [title of show], will premiere at community staple Art Center Sarasota
Sarasota, FL – Sept. 7, 2021 – The Players Centre for Performing Arts will open the musical comedy [title of show] by Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowden, at community staple Art Center Sarasota (707 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236.)
The community theatre planned to host their entire 92nd Season in their new venue, Studio 1130 (The Crossings at Siesta Key – 3501 South Tamiami Trail, Suite 1130, Sarasota, FL 34239.) Due to the current pandemic, The Players Centre is unable to finish the renovations of the space in time for the first show caused by shortages and difficulty getting building materials.
This challenge has presented the first performing arts organization in Sarasota with a unique opportunity to partner with another beloved community organization, Art Center Sarasota. Immediately across from The Players Centre’s former location at 838 N. Tamiami Trail, Art Center Sarasota (formerly the Sarasota Art Association) was established in 1926 as the first arts organization in Sarasota. This historic match brings together two Sarasota firsts to showcase a musical about the creation of a musical. The Players Centre also delights in being able to highlight a fellow key arts organization that helped shape this area into what’s now known as the “Cultural Coast.”
“Covid-19 continues to present live performance organizations with challenges, but this has presented us with the chance to bring together two Sarasota arts ‘firsts,’” says Players Centre CEO William F. Skaggs. “This melding of visual and performing arts community organizations is a thrilling way to bring our past and future together.”
Due to this exciting venue change, some dates will be shifted for [title of show]. Performances will be presented on the following dates:
Oct. 6, 2021 – Preview 7:30pm
Oct. 7, 2021 – Opening Night 7:30pm
Oct. 8, 9, 12, 13, 2021 – 7:30pm
Oct. 17, 2021 – 2pm
The remaining 92nd Season shows will be held in Studio 1130 as previously announced.
