Leadership Updates at The Sarasota Players: Looking Ahead Together

We hope this message finds you well and that you are happy and healthy this holiday season. We thank you for your ongoing support and interest in The Sarasota Players. Today, we are writing to share important updates about our leadership structure as we position The Players for long-term strength and success.

In this new chapter, we are proud to share that a new Board of Trustees, led by Board Chair Katie Weiss, has taken the helm with renewed energy and commitment. Katie is assisted by Vice Chair Diane Weiss, MS, Secretary Scott Keys and trustees Michelle Bilsky, Esquire, Rob McLain Esquire, Dr. Es Swihart and Bill Rusling.

Learn more about each of these dedicated individuals.

This board is focused on fiscal responsibility, organizational transparency, and ensuring that our next steps support both our artistic mission and our community impact. Their leadership comes at a pivotal moment as we work toward our new home in Payne Park and prepare for our 100th season.

We are also pleased to announce the promotions of key staff members.

Thayer Greenberg is now our Managing Artistic Director. Thayer will continue overseeing The Players Studio while guiding our artistic vision across the organization. Her passion for the performing arts, deep expertise in organizational leadership, and dedication to our students and audiences make her an extraordinary asset as we move forward.

Jason Ellis is promoted to Director of Operations. Jason brings extensive leadership experience and a profound understanding of the Sarasota theatre landscape. His leadership will help streamline operations and ensure a stable organizational and fiscal foundation for our programming and growth.

Learn more about them!

As part of a strategic restructuring designed to support a more sustainable future, The Sarasota Players has eliminated the CEO position. We extend our sincere gratitude to William Skaggs for his five years of service and for the dedication he brought to the organization. We are deeply appreciative of his work and contributions.

This new leadership team along with the rest of our committed staff, share a unified vision. The Sarasota Players is Sarasota’s first performing arts organization, and with your continued support, we look forward to what the future holds.

Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your belief in the power of community theatre.

If you have any questions, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you. We look forward to keeping you updated with developments on our new home and our 97th Season.

With gratitude,
